Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is proposing to change the Cancer Navigator service from a 7 day to a 5 day week service.
The Cancer Navigator service is an enhanced phone based service for all cancer patients in the Trust, their families and carers, and community clinicians.
Imperial has said that the evidence suggests that there is a very limited demand for the weekend service (less than 3 per cent of total calls to the service), and that it dies not enhance patient experience, improve safety, or maximise the use of Trust resources.
It is proposed that from April 2018 the Navigator service would operate 8am – 6pm, Monday – Friday, which would align the service with clinical support ensuring a safer, higher quality service, and better patient experience.
