In April 2017 mental health day services in Westminster changed. The former Recovery and Support Services (RSS) closed their two day centres and former clients were offered Personal Budgets to help them attend community based activities to support their mental wellbeing.
Healthwatch Central West London has been contacted by previous users of the RSS in Westminster. They outlined a number of concerns that they had about the current support available to them, including difficulties with the Personal Budget system. We set out their concerns in a letter to Commissioners in Westminster Council and requested information and comment. We also requested an update on the changes and asked them to include further information on:
- any follow up communication or engagement with former RSS clients on what support or activities are available for them
- monitoring of availability of, and access to, community activities in Westminster
- evaluation of outcomes for mental wellbeing undertaken with former RSS clients in Westminster.
