Football (& Sports) for MSM - 1st Announcement

In a contribution to increasing the variety and choice of support/socialisation groups for people living with HIV, Independent Community & Digital Engagement officer Godwyns Onwuchekwa working in conjunction with TackleAfrica (an organisation that uses football to educate people on HIV in Africa), to developing a football group for Black MSM affected by or living with HIV. This group would run fortnightly in a location in or close to Central London.

Activities will include fitness exercises, football games, professional coaching sessions, watching football matches together and the use of football drills to discuss HIV and related issues; i.e. treatment, prevention, keeping fit etc; but generally with a focus on socialising and networking. Attendance is not for football lovers only. Sessions will likely take place after work hours in an indoor pitch for maximum safety, comfort and confidentiality. Food will be served.

The project is London-wide. They therefore solicit your cooperation in sign-posting your service users/contacts who would be interested in joining in the fun.

Since they are not an organisation providing basic integrated support, they urge you to let them know of your services so that they can also sign-post individuals who may need your support in your direction.

The first group session is likely to kick-off in middle to end of October 2014. Further information will be made available in due course.
