Westminster Befriend a Family (WBAF) is supporting young people and families affected by Covid-19 with online and telephone mentoring and befriending.
Recognising the effect these tough times have on mental health and wellbeing, WBAF’s network of volunteers is there for families and young people at risk of social isolation who live in Westminster.
With 30 years of experience serving the local community, they provide social, emotional and practical support to families and young people, enabling them to manage the challenges they’re facing and connecting them to the outside world.
The mentors offer weekly calls for young people aged 10 – 18 in Westminster, over the phone or online. The volunteers are vetted, trained and supervised, offering support in managing stress and isolation, homework and goal setting to manage challenges and achieve aspirations. The experienced befrienders can support parents who might benefit from a regular chat with a reliable, trusted friend. They offer a comprehensive signposting and referral services to make sure people get access to the right support, quickly.
They are expanding to meet increased demand so if you know someone who could use their support, you can make a referral here.
