In February 2015, we re-visited WLMHT on the Charing Cross. You can read our report and the response. We also carried out a spot check in May 2015 to ensure the action plan was being implemented. That report will be published in July 2015.
Dignity Champion Assessment:
Redwood Ward, St Charles (CNWL)
In July 2014, we visited the Redwood Ward, on the St Charles site in North Kensington. The trust response is overdue and will be published here once received.
H&F Mental Health Unit (WLMHT)
In 2014, we conducted an ‘enter & view’ visit to the H&F Mental Health Unit in the grounds of Charing Cross Hospital to assess the quality of the service, please see the report here and their response & action plan here
In 2014, we also issued statements on our perception of quality in our local mental health trusts:
We carried out a survey to find out the views of mental health service users in Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster on care planning. Did they feel involved? How can their care planning be improved? Central & North West London (CNWL) Mental Health Trust is the provider of mental health services with Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea.
Our report and and the trust action plan on our recommendations can be viewed below:
Our work towards good practice:
The National Service User Network (NSUN) recently published a handbook for Healthwatch organisations to help shape services. We are pleased to be meeting their recommendations of not only have a dedicated mental health group, but also:
- To host regular meetings with our local trusts
- To have carried out enter and view visits
- To have held an event with local CVS partners on our low level mental health need in our local BMER communities that are ‘Just Coping’ and
- To raise awareness of local needs with our Clinical Commissioning Groups, Scrutiny Committees and Health and Wellbeing Boards.
